Troubleshoot issues related to mobile hotspots and your Netgear Mingle
This article helps troubleshoot mobile hotspot issues on your Netgear Mingle.

You may have mobile hotspot issues if you:
- Can't connect another device to your Netgear Mingle™ mobile hotspot
- Connect to the mobile hotspot but can't browse
These steps help identify and resolve the underlying cause. After completing each step, test to see if the issue is fixed. If not, continue to the next step.
- Verify your Netgear Mingle is connected to the Virgin Mobile network.
- On the screen of your hotspot, look at the status indicators for signal strength and a 3G or 4G LTE icon.
- If these indicators do not display, continue to the next step.
- Open the Internet browser on your computer and go to http://192.168.1.1 or http://minglehotspot.
- Log in as needed.
- Look at the Status section for signal strength and connection information.
- You are connected to the Virgin Mobile network if signal strength bars are green and the data connection icons (3G/4G) are present.
- Perform a soft reset.A soft reset refreshes your connection to the Virgin Mobile network.
- Turn your device off.
- Remove the battery. After 30 seconds, reinsert the battery.
- Turn your device back on.
- Soft reset the device connecting to the Netgear Mingle.Note: Refer to the connecting device's user manual for soft reset instructions.
- Connect to the Netgear Mingle with a different device.Note: Connecting a second device helps determine if the issue is with the first device or the Netgear Mingle.
- The second device connects, the first device attempting to connect is the issue. Please contact the manufacturer of the first device or place of purchase for additional troubleshooting.
- The second device does not connect, contact Virgin Mobile Customer Care.
Note: To optimize device performance, be sure your Netgear Mingle is running the most recent device software. Check for software updates.

- Press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds to power the device on.Note: Ensure the device is charged and not connected to any computers via USB cable.
- Once the hotspot is on, connect to it from a computer and open a web browser.
- Click on Start Activation.Note: If the device has previously been activated, it may begin the hands free activation process without prompting.
- If a security certificate error appears, click on Continue to this website.
- Click on Sure, I'd like to setup my account now.
- The device will contact the activation server.When prompted, select the preferred customer option and click Go.
- Click the Retailer dropdown menu to select the relevant option.
- Scroll down and fill out the account information fields.When finished, click Next.
- Enter the Account PIN and Secret Question fields, then click Next.
- Review the Terms & Conditions.To continue, click Accept.
- The account is now set up.Click to close the window.
- The device will now go through several automated steps:
- Hands Free Activation
- PRL Update
- Status Update
